This photo reminds me of what an olden day parade may have been like. The color of the photo (black & white) makes me think of older times. The horses also remind me of a parade.(Usually in a parade there are horses). I like this picture because I think it has a lot to say. TJ M Class-1A
it look dusty and dark , and just reminds me of sad nd desperate times like the holocaust . It isn;t enlightening or uplifting , but it does look like it came from a real persons eyes. unfortuneately the sight they were capturing was not happy !

this picture has a very sad feel to it. it reminds me of the depression and of poverty a long time ago but it seams to en-capture the mood of the time and what it would be like to live during the depression.

When I see this photo I think of hard times around the great depression. I like the steam coming off the horses showing how hard they are working and how cold it is in the picture. the focal point is right in the middle and I would make in a better if they put it in one of the 4 sweet spots. I like the lighting in the photo & that the horses are silhouettes. It makes me think of old days and the coldness of winter. It is also a weaker photo because of the focal point. It also shows the extra effort that was needed for transportation in 1892.

I really like this picture because it reminds me of what it was like in the olden days- riding around on a horse and buggy. In the picture I feel like a lot is going on, you have the people the horses and just everything. I feel like if you were in this picture you would smell a lot of farm type smells because of there being so many horses. This picture could have been anywhere in the olden times because that's what every place looked like.

This picture looks like it was taken way back, because the horse's are hauling a trolley for people to ride on. The men in it look like they have old fashioned clothes on. The horse's look like they have been working hard because you can see all the steam coming off of them. This photo is kind of a depressing type of picture because its in black and white and it makes things look like they are dirty. The building also hints to this was taken back in time because there isn't many buildings like that around anymore. SLH- 3A
This picture seems to have a very depressing story. It looks as if something bad has just happened in the area. Like a disaster, a funeral or something like that. I think that the dusty-ness makes it seem very mysterious because it makes me wonder what is behind it.

This picture has a really eerie and depressing feel to it. The smoke and the fog give it a bit of mystery. Its busy but I feel as though it is empty because you can't see anything clearly or anyone's faces. The black and white adds to the feeling of the picture because you don't have color taking away from it. I think it is a good representation of the time period. It also has a bit of pain to it.

I don't like how you can't see the people very well. The horses are dark they are just shilloets. (dont know how to spell that) the photo was taken in Harlem. Well we certainly wouldn't be riding around in wagons that are driven by horses. I really like the building in the background. im really into the old style of buildings and how the windows and doors pop out. Its
seems that it may have been taken early in the morning or on a really cold day.

I think this picture represents a great deal about the time. The picture shows a somewhat dark period that is snow ridden so you can kind of feel the cool edge to it.
This scene differs from today because horses aren't really seen pulling trolly looking machines down roads.
This picture is interesting because its a nice composition and has nice difference in values.

This photo is like from a long time ago... there arent many stage coaches around anymore...This kind of reminds me of the budwiser commercial of the olden times...I am gonna guess that this photo was taken in possible washington DC, quite a while ago. I really like this photo. Jessica O-2A
I like the contrast in this picture, the intense use of dark shades and light. It looks like a sappy picture almost. But the black and white really works for the age the picture displays. Hilary B Class 4A
Tyler j. 4A for this i smell horse dung on the ground . Theres a lot of steam in there air and many people talking. So much hussle and bussle you can barely walk.
I think the fog makes the picture seem intense. Along with the photo being black and white. The picture looks like it could of been taken during the depression. Its dark and by having darkness it makes you think. saydi 2B
This photo looks like it was taken downtown in a small city. I really like how it is in black and white, it gives it a lot of feeling. I don't really like it because it is too dark and gloomy. I do however think it is interesting because of the placement of the people in the photo.

This photo looks like a night time view of people getting out of work and are buzzing around If they could keep the focus on the horse head and fogged the man upfront as well James3A
This photo reminds me of early morning detachment, like the period of the morning where you just waken up and people see you and you see people but beside a nod or a hi, there's not much interaction; usually because people are still lost in yesterday thoughts. I am not really sure if that is putting it into the exact words, nor given the exact feeling for what I'm getting from it.
Plus I love the building in the back, it's a beauty, reminds me of the Custom House in Portland.

I really like thus photo because it shows what it was like back when there were no vechiles around and it has a lot of detail in such a simple black and whit picture. this picture tells so many stories and has many different interpations and thats why i like it so much.

This picture looks it was taken in the winter time. looks like they were working the horses really hard.

Everything about this photo seems very industrious. The horses are working so hard that their flanks are releasing steam. The trolly seems to be trudging through harlem, with both the driver and the animal working a long day. The black and white allows of the animals' dark coat to make a loud statement and the day's labor becomes dramatic. The photo's contrast intensifies an every day task, and shows the importance of the trolly's work in city life.

What is most strikes me about this exsquiste work is the way the smoke is steaming off the horses backs. I get a sense that work is going on, and further a sense of the times. I also like the dark values in the photo. These values give the picture a mood of depression and darkness. I'm feelin this pic fo sho.

This photograph reminds me of a time around the Great Depression, when things were deep and dark and dusty. The horse really catches your attention and the dust around the horse makes you feel like you are in the past, like a time warp. The lighting is classic and this photo has great depth.

it reminds me of the old days where hard work and labor were actually around, not by machines, and I can smell the nasty smell of old mills, also reminds me of the civil war times, it just looks depressing to me, i think the focal point is the horse thats what draws my attention the most.
The photo reminds me of an early nineteen hundreds winter day in New York City. It looks like a man trying to make a living off of buggy rides and he has just let someone out or something and the horses refuse to go again. It looks realistic to me. Not happy or sad but real.

The photograph was taken in Harlem, I would guess around the 1890's. You can tell it was taken in Harlem because of the sign on top of the trolley. This scene is different today because we use cars now, not horse and buggy. I really like how the smoke engulfs the horses because that is what my attention was drawn to. I love how the picture was in black and white because it gives it originality.

Downtown new york. Harlem to be precise. It looks cold, and noisy. Fresh snow is on the ground already brown from the dirty and mud of the city. Its a telling picture that shows the bustling inner city full of life even during the middle of winter.
